Week One…

Hello Metaphorians,
After one week of being open, I wanted to share with you how social communities typically grow. In a word, slowly. In building this community, know that it’s a bit like building a house from scratch. There will be some construction going on… for example, the site will be down soon to move it from shared hosting to dedicated hosting, which is some behind-the-scenes information but essential to ensure the site loads quickly.
We’ll start getting members one by one, and in comparison to your established platforms, you’ll think…hey, no one’s here! But this is the period where we’re seeding the site. New people will come on, establish their interesting voices, and then you’ll look forward to communicating with them. As you’re new to the site, this is an opportunity, based on your interesting perspectives, to gain an early readership. So post away!
I’ve also invited some intriguing individuals to visit the site because I appreciate their strong points of view. You’ll see them labeled as conversation starters, and those include folks like Candice Benbow, Mark Anthony Neal, Tony Puryear, Daryl Scott, and ÀdÃsà Àjà mú. Each is a writer, academic, and intellectual, whom I enjoy, and I think you will too. In the future, I’ll invite more. Feel free to reply to their posts and challenge them if you disagree.
You’re the crucial part of this experiment, and I need you to do two things: Post five things EVERY DAY, reply to five things EVERY DAY, and invite five new people to join TheMetaphorClub.com every day. If you can do that, then we’ll look back a year from now, amazed at how we’ve grown and how effective the site is for building relationships. Let’s do it!
Lawrence
