Y’all know what time it is, baby! It’s our 33rd wedding anniversary. And as we like to say, ‘ain’t no one more congratulatory about celebrating their existence as a couple than us, and we ain’t shamed…”
Here are the top reasons why April Ross is the most incredible wife on the face of this earth, and why I love her to pieces.
1. Her face. I remember the exact moment when I fell in love with her face. She was asleep in the dorms, and I looked at her face, and my brain went, “This is the one. This is the one who you love and will protect forever.”
2. Her humor: We both love to laugh, and our humor is firmly set within absurd observations. She makes me laugh from the moment I get up to the moment I go to sleep. She laughs at herself, which is my line of demarcation as to whether you’re human or not.
3. Her Teenagerness: I have no idea why I find this charming, but April MAINTAINS crushes on famous dudes. From Kevin Hooks as a child, to SUGARFOOT as a child, Andy Summers from the Police, who we saw eleventy billion times at the Baked Potato to today’s Sebastian Stan, who she’s damn convinced me to let her run off with if the opportunity arose. There’s something innocent about that.
4. Her Resilience: People see the medical issues when she posts pics from the hospital, but no one sees how hard it is to get over the fact that your body has betrayed you. I’ve watched the strongest human I know travel through all of the gates of emotion, trying to craft a normal. That’s guts, and I admire guts.
5. Safety: When I look at my babe, I know I’m safe. Things may be happening in the world, my professional life, whatever, but when I’m in her arms, I feel safe. And loved. And okay, even when things aren’t okay. She makes me feel safe when I’m vulnerable, and never once uses my vulnerability as a weapon against me.
I could go on for hours, but then y’all would go, TDLDR, and I’d get mad. .
