This is not normal. A sitting president refusing to call the governor of a state after two elected officials were shot, one fatally, is beyond words. A typical president, regardless of politics, would pick up the phone. Offer condolences. Ask what the federal government can do to help and show leadership. Instead, Trump calls the governor “whacked out” and says “Why would I call him?” This isn’t strength. It’s cruelty! And it sends a loud message: If you’re not loyal to Trump, you don’t matter. America deserves better.
