As a writer/producer/consultant I’m always looking for new things to watch, read, hear, etc.
Would love to hear what you’re into right now. Some new show or movie on the streamers?! A fun and entertaining account on TikTok or other socials?
My current YAY: Justin Willman’s MAGIC FOR HUMANS on Netflix
My current NAY: THE OLD GUARD 2 on Netflix.
Would love to hear what you’re into now!

My series of the year was Mobland. Totally enjoyable. Made me want to watch more things written by Ronan Bennett. I’m finding the third season of the Gilded Age to be a bit boring and predictable. It’s feeling more and more like a warmed over Downton Abbey remake, although I love how Salli Richardson gives the Black storyline a lot more agency that you typically see in period dramas.
My YouTube favorite: The cooking show done by an anonymous guy who is known as FutureCanoe. I watch it religiously, even as I can’t crack what makes it so entertaining. It’s a regular guy who obviously has some cooking skills, but it’s full of HS sex jokes, tragic cooking outcomes, and…life philosophy…from what appears to be a kid no more than 25 at most. His hook is that he remakes meals from YT chefs, including celebrity chefs, and now they’re turning around and doing his renditions of their food. Very meta. But there’s something magical about the channel, and I fear that at some point, it’ll get corrupted by someone trying to take it broad. Rare that you get something so unique, and with a great voice.
The Rest Is History is my YT podcast. Two English blokes who talk about everything from Roman history to the Irish Revolution. #1 on my list.
Finally, the Club 520 podcast with Jeff Teague is my way of tying into younger creators talking about sports. It’s authentic, and it feels like me and my boys talking shit.

@alpha1906 perfect. All things I wasn’t aware of which is why I made the post! Will check them all out!

@tim-albaugh The dude FutureCanoe has 4 million followers and I can tell that he didn’t even think about followers when he started. LOL

Most recent highlights were Mobland, The Day of the Jackal, Slow Horses, and Black Doves. All great watches.
My podcast fave/Tuesday therapy session, is The Bald And The Beautiful with Trixie and Katya, who are two completely deranged drag queens (typically out of drag for the podcast; go figure) who make me guffaw even when I feel like running into traffic.

I’m currently all in on the 50 Cent cinematic universe. BMF is currently airing, and the season is off to a good start. I’m also re-watching Animal Kingdom now that it’s on Netflix. I finished Godfather of Harlem and eagerly await season 5.
