Again, the philosophy of TheMetaphorClub.com is simple, and reflective of what we did in seven years at the club:
Can you create an atmosphere that doesn’t usually exist? One where people come together in a space, and get to know each other organically, and truly CARING about each other, by believing that collectively, we are stronger than when we rely upon individuality?
When people build authentic relationships, resources flow. For example, I receive numerous requests for help in this area, or requests for something else. It’s not that I don’t want to help, but I don’t KNOW you. It’s hard for me to help without that connection, frat or not.
But those inside the club will vouch. Mi resources are tu resources. I have connected writers with various opportunities, written letters of recommendation, helped kids gain admission, and secured jobs for individuals. Why? Because if you’re a member of my community, and I interact with you each day, you gettin’ that hook up.
We can do that on social media, but you can’t do it while you’re being manipulated by algorithms, bots, and trolls, who only exist to infuriate you or provoke you. Don’t know about y’all, but I don’t need any more misinformation in my life. Nor mood swings based on everyone being in a contest to see who has the nastiest response.
Not to mention the odious people who own these platforms, many whom advocate for things completely opposite of my beliefs.
That ain’t me, and if that ain’t me, then I decided to do something about it. And my hope is that, over time, we’ll have a friendly community, perhaps a few thousand people who want to be generous, kind, and thoughtful, without thinking those attributes are weak, corny, or whatever other derogatory word they can think of.
Join TheMetaphorClub.com. It’s only $99 for the year, and that’s pretty cheap for belonging to a community that makes you feel good about yourself.
