More American ownership of English Premier teams is NOT a good thing. One of the reasons I followed the EPL some 33 years ago was the fact that the teams tended to be owned by local business people who were devoted to their local teams. Now, with state-controlled owners and American ownership, I can feel our imperialism wanting to change what is a fundamental piece of football: relegation and promotion. They want a closed shop, and if more Americans buy into the league, they’ll eventually have the votes. You just have to looks the the greed of the Glazer family with my Manchester United to see what can happen.
