Question about society...
I was thinking about this…are young people today growing up with institutions and structures that provide them with boundaries, expectations, and goals? For example, I grew up in the Black church, and one of the things expected of Black children was that they needed to enunciate their voice. How did you do that? You were given tasks, such as reading the homily or participating in speech competitions. So when you grew up, you knew how to speak in public. Do they still do that? And this isn’t any dig at the youth, I’m more interested if the institutions still exist to do that. Like, can a giant mega Black church do that type of work?
